Muntons Extra Light Malt Extract is made from British ground malted barley that is mashed, sparged and then condensed to this can of Liquid Malt Extract (LME)

Using it as a base, it has a very light, pale colour, gentle malty biscuit tones. There is no bitterness as no hops have been added during the making of the extract.

You can make beer, pale ale, IPA using the Extra Liquid Malt Extract (LME), or you can add it to your beer kit instead of sugar to give extra depth and body.

If you wish to use Extra Light Malt Extract

as a base for brewing, this 1.5kg kit will make 20 pints of wort (just add water). Add your hops, then pitch your yeast.  Hops and yeast are not included. This is a great way to give your home made beer a twist by adding your own combination of hops, spray malts, sugar, fruits or whatever you want to try. It just avoids having to start completely from scratch!

You do not have to boil the wort, but if you wish, you can boil your hops in a litre of water and then add the hop flavoured water to the kit. This will add a smooth bitterness when making traditional real ales.

This is a great way to give your home made beer a twist by adding your own combination of hops, spray malts or whatever you want to try. It just avoids having to start completely from scratch!

This 1.5kg / 1.1 litre can is made from the finest ingredients to give you a good head start in your beer making process.

Very dark for light malt extract. Did not taste good at all

Hi Jonny, sorry to hear you think its very dark for extra light LME. We have used it many times and found it to be a good product. It will look dark when first opened as it is concentrated, but when hydrated back up to 23 litres with water it is very pale. It will be a little darker then making a batch with all grain extra pale malt due to the maillard effect during the concentration process. Purging your fermenter with CO2 before adding the water will also help prevent early oxidisation.
