Distilling alcohol is technically illegal in the UK (unless you have a licence), so if you want to stay on the right side of the law, we have high alcohol kits that will make an ABV over 21%.
If you want to achieve higher ABV spirits, then you will need to distil a base alcohol and add flavours, fruits and herbs. Take a look at our recipe for sugar wash that can then be run through a still to increase the volume of alcohol.
You can run pretty much any alcohol through a still. So, if you have made a wine or beer that doesn't quite hit the spot on your taste buds, don't throw it away. Run it through a still and turn it into a spirit. Brandy is distilled wine that is then aged. You can then add a flavouring and turn your alcohol in to a spirit. Or you can use the brandy to fortify a wine and turn it into a port.
